This site began as an attempt to gather information on my father's family, the  Armstead/Baylor/Carter family.  An African American family whose roots go back  to Bowling Green in Caroline County Virginia.  His mother and father moved on  to Washington D.C. and one of his brothers later re-located to Philadelphia PA.   
 Although the ancestry will be common to all of the Armsteads in the family,  the decendantry for each of us will branch off into different directions.  My  branch goes off into my mothers side of the family (Grimes/Ingram/Norris) and  each of my ex-wives families (Powells/Clarks & Ryan/Hoskins/Foules).  These  branches I traced to ensure that my children and their decendants will have a  starting point to began their own research should they desire to do so.
